The other day, I went to Daiso to buy heat-and-eat rice, but couldn’t find it and murmured “Oh, it’s out of stock!” to myself. There was a staff member walking by. She went to check the inventory and brought the item from the back stockroom. She appeared not to be bothered at all, and I felt very happy.
The store personnel at this branch are always kind, so shopping is pleasant. I will visit the store again. Thank you!

I went to the store in the morning. There was a young lady on the sales floor, and she said something when I passed by. The item was not on the shelf, and I didn’t know if there was any in stock in the back, so I asked her to wait and checked the inventory. I found the item in the right place, and I was able to deliver it to her. Since the customer came to buy a specific item, I wanted to make sure she was satisfied, as well as contribute to store sales. Above all, I am happy that the customer found the item she desired.

When I am asked about the inventory, I try to provide as much information as much as I can. Sometimes items are temporarily not available or even discontinued, while other items are scheduled to be restocked on a certain date. If I fail to provide the information, the customer might continue to look for an item that will never be restocked. Therefore, I ask the customers to wait a while and go to check the inventory and provide as much detail about the shipment schedule as possible.

I was shopping at Daiso with my husband, and when bagging the items after checking out, I dropped a 10-yen coin. It rolled away under the bagging table. I looked for it but couldn’t see it and decided to give up. Then a man from the cashier came and looked for the coin on his hands and knees. He eventually found it and gave it to me saying, “Sorry to keep you waiting.” I was amazed by his excellent service. Please tell him how grateful I am.

I think it was a little past 5 p.m. I was working at the cashier. A couple finished checking out, and I guided them to the bagging area. When I was serving other customers, the couple appeared to have some trouble. I walked over to them and asked what was happening. They said they dropped a coin. I found it under the table, it was in a rather deep place, but I could get to it by fully stretching my arm out. I’m happy that I could return it to the customer.

One month after joining Daiso, there was a long queue at the cashier. I became anxious and asked a customer if she had a point card while she was still looking for a coin. The customer told me that I should have been more attentive and not to rush her. It was a good lesson for me. Since then, I always consider the perspective of the customer and think about how to make the customer feel comfortable without making them feel uncomfortable. For this reason, at the cash register, when a customer is carrying a large bag or eco-bag, I ask, “May I leave it like this? I try to listen and behave in a way that puts myself in the other person’s shoes.

The other day, I went shopping at Daiso Kikukawa-Inter branch with my mother, brother, and two nephews. We had almost finished shopping when we joined the que at the cashier counter—my mother and brother were in line, and I was waiting for them with my five-year-old nephew. During the brief time I took my eyes off him, the boy broke a toy sold there, and the pieces scattered on the floor.
I was picking up the pieces when Ms. O came. I apologized and offered to pay for the toy, but Ms. O said, “It’s okay, you don’t need to pay.” I was very sorry, but her way of talking eased my concern. My nephew realized that he had done something wrong, and said, “I’m sorry” to her. She was very kind to him as well, and said, “Don’t worry, you said that you were sorry, and it’s all right.”
If I had kept my eyes on the boy, I wouldn’t have caused trouble for the store staff, but her wonderful words and service really saved me.

I was restocking the shelves when I saw a ball containing a gel-like material inside break and a mother picking up the parts. I ran over and helped her pick up the pieces. The gel-like granular material was not easy to collect, and the whole family joined us later.
I didn’t want them to go home feeling bad, so I told the mother that she need not worry. The boy apologized to me, so I told him that it was not a big deal and that it was good of him to apologize.
I am a mother myself, so I understand how it feels in such a situation. Children make mistakes, and it’s an opportunity for learning. He was sorry, and that was enough. I didn’t want them to feel too bad.

As staff members, we go to Daiso to work all the time, but some customers visit Daiso for the first time, some come once a week, and some come once a month. As customers, they chose to visit Daiso, and I want to make their shopping experience fun so that they will come again.

I went to the Kudamatsu Suetake Branch around noon to shop with my child.
I was using a baby sling while shopping. There were so many items on my shopping list that the basket was pretty full. At the self-checkout machine, I was having trouble because I was holding my child.
Mr. S came over to help by holding the shopping bag open and handing me the items in the basket one by one for scanning. I appreciated his help so much! (He even told me where the barcode was as he handed the item.)
I was overwhelmed at that time and couldn’t thank him like I should, so instead I want to tell you.

I want you to know that there is a very nice staff member at the Kudamatsu Suetake branch, and that store staff serve customers with tender care.

For 20 years since the time of establishment, our cashier machine had been staffed, but self-checkout machines were installed at the end of November 2021. Although the new machines are convenient, the staff members miss the communication with customers during the payment.
At the Kudamatsu Suetake branch, many mothers with little children shop during the daytime. Shopping with a small child is difficult to do, and I know of the difficulty firsthand.
At that time, I saw a customer with a basketful of items who had a toddler in a sling. I thought it would be difficult to use the self-checkout machine and went to help. She seemed unfamiliar with the machine, so I assisted her in scanning the barcodes and bagging the items for a smooth checkout.
I didn’t think she would write us to show her gratitude. I did something quite natural for a store staff to do, but this thank-you message made my day!

When you are occupied with tasks, it is easy to become narrowly focused on that task and appear as if customers should not talk to you. So, when I am busy, I always remember the basics and welcome customers.
The Kudamatsu Suetake branch is a large store, so you can find almost everything you need. However, the store size can pose a problem, and customers often cannot find what they are looking for. In such a case, I guide them to the exact shelf, and if the item is not there, I ask them to wait while I check for it. I want all the customers who visit our store to go home satisfied.
The store staff at this branch enjoy their jobs and respect and help each other. I think the nice working environment plays an important role in creating the good mood at the store as a whole.

In the evening of Saturday, April 9, my boy wet himself near the cashier.
I want to thank the young male staff member who was working at the cashier because he was very kind.
He talked not only to me but also to my child, and said “No need to worry,” in a nice manner. His caring behavior deeply touched my heart.
I revisited the store to thank the staff the other day, but I couldn’t find him. Please tell him that I thank him very much for his caring service.

The young female staff I met that day was also very pleasant. She told me, “Don’t worry and come visit us again.” How her words saved me!

Around 3 p.m. I was at the cashier. There was a little boy with his mother. While the mother is making payment, the boy appeared to look for the restroom. By the time the mother went through the cashier, the poor boy wet his pants. The mother seemed upset, so I tried to stay calm and said to her, “It’s okay. You don’t need to worry.” I could see how sorry she was, so I wanted to let her know that she need not worry.
After seeing them off, I went to the stockroom for the tools to clean the area. I asked myself what was the best thing I could do for the child and mother, and that was the answer.

Since they chose our store to shop, I want them to have a pleasant shopping experience.
I greet and thank them as enthusiastically as possible because I know it makes both the customers and me happy. While we need to wear masks, we need to make an extra effort, such as smiling with the eyes and talking in a cheerful voice to avoid appearing unfriendly.

The other day, I went shopping at the Co-op, Hibarigaoka branch, with my daughter. We had almost finished shopping and were headed to the cash register when my daughter insisted on making the payment herself. I was not sure if she could do it but let her go alone to the cash register.
At that time, Ms. K, a female staff member, was in charge of the cash register. She treated my daughter kindly and politely without the slightest sign of annoyance and made my daughter and me very happy. A shop with such gentle and helpful personnel allows me to shop comfortably. My daughter wants to visit the store again, so we’ll revisit soon.

I remember that day as a Saturday, and we were a bit busy. A small child in the queue brought a shopping basket by herself. Her parent looked worried about her. I knew that children want to try to do everything. I think that the accumulation of experience will lead to confidence and doing things alone, so I was glad to help her shop and tried to be as courteous as possible.

I always tell myself to be faithful about the basics, like making eye contact with customers to show they are welcome and offering careful guidance at the cash register. Also, because the time spent at home is increasing and the time to interact with people is decreasing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, I hope customers who choose to visit Daiso to shop will receive good service and be satisfied.

The staff at Daily Qanat Izumiya, Hanazono branch, are always pleasant. In particular, Ms. K at the cashier was brisk and lively and very caring and nice despite being new at the work. Her mentor was kind when teaching her, and I thought they were heartwarming. I don’t go to Daiso stores that often, but I found the overall atmosphere of the store to be wonderful, so I want to visit the store again when I come to the neighborhood.

At that time, I was doing my cashier training. Three senior staff, Ms. N, Mr. N, and Ms. S, taught me the work. Their guidance was easy to understand, and I was practicing what I was taught that day. Since I have a loud voice, I was just told to be brisk and polite at the cashier service. I’m glad that what I was doing made the customer happy.
At the Daily Qanat Izumiya, Hanazono branch, the atmosphere is very nice, and I will continue to do my best as a member of the staff.

I think that it’s important to put myself in someone else’s shoes. When I’m with customers, I carefully think about what is good or bad for them. For example, when I’m working at the cash register, I always look into the customers’ eyes and say “Welcome.” It is basic but often forgotten when the store gets busy. However, busy moments are when I most want to make customers comfortable. Since we wear masks these days and our smiles cannot be seen, I try to convey my welcoming smile with my voice.

I really want to thank you for one thing.
Lately I often leave things behind. In particular, thin, flimsy items are tricky, and I have left them in shopping baskets more than once after purchasing them.
I try to be careful so that I don’t forget anything, but the other day, I accidentally left an alphabet sticker sheet in the basket after purchasing it at LaSoRa Kawanishi.
I called the store that night to ask them to check the baskets, but the item wasn’t there to be found.
I thought that I should accept the loss because it was my fault, but I was disappointed since I had purchased the item for a specific purpose.
However, I received a phone call from the store the next day that informed me that they had a replacement for me.
Although I could not find the item I purchased, their thoughtful response was so great that I was happy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

A staff member who was on the night shift the day before left a message that a customer had left an alphabet sticker sheet in a shopping basket.
I tried to reach the customer again the next morning. I didn’t know which alphabet sticker sheet the customer needed, so I called and asked about the item. As a result, I narrowed it down to two items.
The customer said, “It was my mistake…,” but the least I could do was put the item on hold. The customer later visited the store again and asked for the item at the cash register, so we were able to replace the item for the customer. The smile on the customer’s face when he received the item left a deep impression on me.

I always try to be as close to customers as possible and act in a way that the customer would be pleased. There some things that I cannot do if I only consider work efficiency, but I would like to treat the customer in the best way possible within the given time and circumstances.

I’m very happy that the customer was pleased with my service.

The other night, I went shopping at the Warabi Chuo branch and bought expendable supplies, including Super-san Shopping Bags (90 bags). Ms. I, a cashier, told me that there was a value pack with more bags per pack. She was kind enough to bring me the pack and exchange it for what I had. If she had not said anything, I wouldn’t have known, but I found her consideration marvelous. I love to visit the Warabi Chuo branch because they are always pleasant.

We are running a 50% volume-increase campaign to celebrate our 50th anniversary, and store personnel are eagerly informing customers about it. So, it was a coincidence that the one who told the customer about the anniversary was me. Since we have a special product, I try to talk about the campaign when a customer brings a regular product. There are special shelves for 50% volume-increase products. So, I was ready to exchange the item.
I am happy that the customer was pleased.

Lately, many customers ask about the items they saw on SNS, so we research products on SNS to check for popular items. We make sure that such products are available on the sales floor and prepare for questions about them. I feel great when the customers are satisfied with the products on the sales floor, which is updated for them.

I am physically challenged and often have difficulty shopping. It takes me longer to pay for items or bag groceries. It was one such moment when Mr. I at the Ekubo Nagoya Momoyama branch waited patiently without rushing me and carried my basket to the sacker’s table. Whenever I visit the store, he is always polite and pleasant and that makes me feel at ease.
At other stores, I had to bag my purchases all by myself or was rushed. I prefer going to a store with helpful staff like Mr. I.

The customer looked worried because the cashier was busy, and other customers were waiting in line. So I said, “Don’t worry, it’s okay.” I thought that just saying a few words to the customer would help calm him down.
The customer often visits our store, and I knew he had a Help Mark, so I thought about what I could do to help and did my best to serve the customer. Thank you for always coming to our store.

All customers might look the same, but they are different.
Some female customers are pregnant. It is important to understand the different kinds of customers and provide the appropriate services to meet each customer’s needs.

I was looking for a whiteboard at Daiso for my wedding. On that day, however, there was only one whiteboard on the sales floor, and I asked Mr. T, one of the store staff, to check the inventory. Although it was Sunday and the store was busy, Mr. T went back and forth around the stockroom to check; after a while, he came back with the whiteboards that I was looking for. He was polite and so fast behind the counter that I was impressed. It was just before my wedding day, and I really wanted to buy the boards on that day. I was relieved that I could buy them. As for the service, I’d like to follow Mr. T’s great example. I will shop at the Daiso Yatsuka Ekimae branch again!

It was around 4 p.m. when one of the customers asked if there were some white color boards in stock; there was only one white sheet on the shelf. I checked the inventory only to find that there was only one in the store at the moment. However, a new shipment was scheduled to arrive on that day, so I told the customer that it might take some time and checked the stockroom. Fortunately, the shipment had just arrived. I apologized for having kept her waiting, but I was glad that I could manage to deliver the required number of products to the customer.

The underlying idea is to make the customers happy. Since it is difficult to see facial expressions because of the medical masks, I try to show gratitude by looking into the eyes of the customers as much as possible. In addition, I try to convey my feelings, rather than provide systematic service, by talking with the customers when I take them to the sales floor. I am very happy to talk with customers with a smile, which is one of the best things to happen while working at Daiso.

I’m happy that I could be of help in preparing for the wedding. I would like to see the customer again in the store. Customers may find it difficult to talk to the staff because of the COVID-19 situation, but please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Because of the heavy snow, I often had snow get inside my shoes, so I put the shoes on a shoe tray and placed it in front of the heater to dry. Since the number of trays was insufficient, I decided to buy a few more; however, I couldn’t find them on the regular shelf. I asked Mr. O about it. He immediately checked the inventory and brought the item from the stockroom for me to purchase.

A customer asked me, “I can’t find an item on the shelf. Can you check if you have any in stock?” I checked the inventory status on a PC and found several items in stock, so I came back to the customer to tell him and asked him to wait a bit longer. Then, I immediately went back to the warehouse to retrieve the item. Finally, I was able to find the product and hand it to the customer. I was happy because I could tell that the customer was satisfied.

Even when I am busy, I always try to be sincere when dealing with customers. By doing so, the atmosphere of the store becomes more welcoming, and hopefully customers can feel comfortable when shopping. I believe that feeling of comfort will be a reason to visit the store again.

At Daiso, new products arrive one after another and often replace products on the shelf. I am a heavy user of the cleaning sheets, one of the standard cleaning supplies. Since there are so many products, please feel free to ask if you cannot find a product or have any questions about the store.

I photocopied my personal My Number card on a copy machine but forgot to collect the original. I didn’t even notice until the police contacted me. It could have fallen into the wrong hands, but the store staff found the card and delivered it to the police station. I wanted to say thank you to the clerk, but she wasn’t in the store at that time, so I left a message.

I happened to find a My Number card left behind in the copy machine. Since the card contains important personal information, I thought that the person who lost it must be in trouble and immediately took it to the police station. If I were the person who lost it, I would have been very anxious. I was relieved to hear that it had been returned to the owner.

I always think from the customer’s point of view when I think about what I should do. The Shinkoiwa Lumiere branch is in an area where many elderly people live. Since the store is multistoried but only has stairs, whenever I see an elderly customer with a basket or bags, I ask if they need help.

My mother cannot walk very well, so we visit the Daiso Adachi Hitotsuya Branch, which has an elevator. However, when we were going home, the elevator was out of order. I wanted to use the escalator, but my mother feared the speed of the descending escalator. I asked the store staff for help, and they gladly let us use the emergency staircase. One person helped my mother by holding her hands and another person carried the bags of goods that we purchased. While I was driving the car to the staircase, they stayed and waited with my mother. I’m very thankful.

It was the pair of a lady in her 40s and her mother. At that time, the elevator was out-of-order because of an earthquake. I served them because the customer was afraid of the descending escalator. While taking the stairs to the ground floor, the senior person held the handrail with one hand, so I took the other hand and talked with her. What I did was nothing special, since the customers were in need, but I’m happy that they remembered me and gave positive feedback.

Because we are wearing masks and our facial expressions are hidden, I try to be brisk and talk in an easy-to-understand manner. I, myself, am a customer at other stores, so it is possible to place oneself in their shoes. When I see someone that seems to be puzzled, I always ask, “Are you looking for something in particular?”

I wanted to buy a sensor light but couldn’t find it. So, I asked Ms. K, store staff, and she was amazing. Ms. K saw that the sensor light wasn’t on the shelf and told me that she would check on it and come back soon. She went into the back office, and after a while, she came back and said, “The date of the arrival of the next shipment is not fixed yet. Maybe you can have the product ID available and call us some time later to check if it’s here.”
She looked up the ID for me on her tablet. I couldn’t get the item that day, but I was moved to see the wonderful staff. Ms. K is nice. She speaks clearly and didn’t look bothered at all. I was happy to know that there is such a nice person. It was a great moment.

It’s not like we know all the items, so I always ask customers about the details. There are many customers who don’t know exactly what they are looking for, but I want to find the best match in a product for the customer. There are many types of solar lights, and since they are very popular, often they are sold out. I didn’t know which product the customer was asking for and thought that I had better show him the tablet and look the item up.

I try to think like a customer. It’s easy to say, “Sorry, I don’t know.” However, you must consider what good service is like. If a customer is satisfied and buys a product, that’d make me happy. My serving well leads to the next visit, so I want to continue being nice to customers.

I want to tell you about Ms. H who works at the Links Umeda Branch.
Although she looked busy, when I asked about an item, she guided me to the area. I told her that I would find it myself but couldn’t. After a while, she came back and looked for the item with me. Eventually, we concluded that the product was not on the shelf. She checked the stock and schedule of shipments and suggested other stores in the Umeda area that might have it.
I couldn’t get what I was looking for, but thanks to her help, I didn’t feel bad about it. I was so delighted that I decided to teach the staff at my company to do things in the way Ms. H would do. Thank you, Ms. H. I will definitely visit you again to find the item.

When I was still new to the job, a customer asked if there was a magnifying lens for mobile phones. The product wasn’t in stock at our store, but when I checked the item information, I learned that Daiso as a group handled it. So, I said,
the Osaka Umeda Branch is the largest in the area, so we might be able to find it there. I wanted to satisfy the customer before going home, and I thought it would be impolite just to say, “If it’s not here, we don’t have it.”

I started working in December 2021 because my friend introduced me to the job. This is my third month on the job. I’m trying not to do what I would find not good as a customer. What I have in mind: smile, look the customer in the eye while talking, stop what I’m doing when I’m asked something, always guide the customer to the shelf, and to ask my seniors when I don’t know something. I hope the customers find my smile pleasant and observe other store staff closely to learn things.
