Ep. 08: Mieko Aono,
Former Managing
Director
Companions
How it was helpful to be around and work together with the joyful companions at stores. How it was helpful to be around and work together with the joyful companions at stores.

You cannot keep doing things alone.

The people who work at the site are the strongest ones.
With the former president (Hirotake Yano, the founder), I trained store managers for working at the point of sales in a motor coach many times. They were highly capable in general. It was helpful to be around and work together with joyful companions at the stores. Without them, I couldn’t have worked for more than 40 years. You can’t keep doing things alone.
But that was not just me. I guess store managers were the same.

I can work because my mother and children, as well as my husband, cooperate with me.

One store manager said, “I realized the joy of working the harder I worked. As a woman, I had tasks as a homemaker, like housework and childcare. I used to consider myself a working mother. What was wrong with that? Now when I leave the house for work, my mother says, ‘Be careful and work hard.’ I can work because my mother and children, as well as my husband, cooperate with me.” While telling me this story, she cried because she was so grateful about the situation. I remember her tears very well.

I can work hard because my companions are with me.

I used to tell store managers at the training site to say, “I’m home!” loudly when they returned home. Then, their children would ask “What happened to you, mommy? You look happy!” That’s the way of working that we are after.
I can work hard because my companions are with me. It’s a great thing.
